Find customers who are active but have already canceled renewal
An active-subscription export can include customers entitled to use the service until their paid period ends but who have already requested cancellation. Obtain the cancellation register and customer confirmations as well as the current billing status. Record the notice date, agreed end date, remaining access and any final usage charge expected under the contract.
Check whether the migration selection rule distinguishes these accounts. They may need continued service in the destination system without a new renewal. Treating every active source record as a fresh continuing subscription can undo the customer's instruction even when the opening price and quantity look correct.
Map the future event explicitly
Stripe's migration toolkit includes a field for cancellation at period end and a documented example for this situation. It also treats additional subscription phases as a separate migration step. Verify what the chosen import method actually carries, and assign any unsupported end-date or phase action to a named owner before activation.
Compare the source's meaning of period end with the destination's actual dates. A different billing anchor can change when a simple end-of-period flag takes effect. Preserve the customer's confirmed date as the acceptance criterion. A successful import message proves that data was accepted; it does not prove that the imported timing matches the agreement.

Test access and billing through the final day
For representative accounts, inspect the remaining service period, next invoice preview and scheduled end event. Confirm that access continues for the agreed duration and that renewal is suppressed as intended. Include a customer whose end date falls close to the migration date and one with an outstanding invoice from the old system.
As a hypothetical example, a customer may have canceled in April with access continuing through June 30, while billing migrates on June 10. The new record needs to support the remaining service period without introducing a July renewal. Any final usage bill should remain separately identifiable so a legitimate closing charge is not confused with an unintended new term.
Reconcile the entire cancellation population
Count scheduled cancellations in the final source snapshot and match each to a destination outcome or an approved exclusion. Compare both customer counts and recurring value. Investigate missing records, changed dates and duplicate destination subscriptions. Keep a separate list of cancellation requests received between the export and the final cutover.
Have customer support continue accepting requests during the migration using an agreed handoff process. A freeze on configuration changes should not make a customer's request disappear. Record which system owns each late change and verify the final state after the migration team releases its hold.
Follow the first scheduled endings
Monitor the first affected end dates and inspect actual billing and access results. Retain evidence that the agreed cancellation occurred. If an unintended renewal is generated, preserve the customer's original instruction, arrange the authorized correction promptly and identify other accounts with the same mapping issue.
Carry the original cancellation reason and date into management reporting where appropriate. The migration should not make an old cancellation appear to be a new loss discovered later. Keep the source-to-destination reference in the final register so finance can explain both the service timeline and the reporting treatment after the old platform is retired.
