The organizer is how you give the preparer the facts behind your return. It saves as you type, so you can leave and come back.
The sections
- Entity and ownership
- Filing status
- Revenue and sales
- Cost of goods sold
- Operating expenses
- Payroll and contractors (1099)
- Fixed assets and depreciation
- Loans and liabilities
- Owner distributions or draws
- State and local filings
- Estimated tax payments
- Prior-year return upload
- IRS and state notices
- Review and submit
Steps
- Open the organizer from Tax and work through each section. The progress bar shows how far along you are.
- Answer what applies. When a section asks for something you do not have yet, finish what you can and come back.
- Open Review and submit and check the summary.
- Submit. The page confirms the organizer was submitted for review.
If the preparer has questions
The return moves to a needs-clarification status and the page shows a note from the preparer. Choose Respond to clarification, answer the question, and resubmit that section.
Important
Upload your prior-year return in its section if you have one. It saves the preparer from asking for it later.
