Read a reconciliation

Compare a statement balance with your book balance and see what is still unmatched.

Updated 2026-10-11

Reconciliation checks that your books agree with the bank. Open Bookkeeping, then Reconciliation, to see it for each account and statement period.

What the page shows

  • The statement balance and the book balance for the period.
  • The difference between them. A difference of zero means the account agrees.
  • A status such as Completed or Unresolved, with counts of matched and unmatched items.
  • A detail view with the statement lines on one side and the book transactions on the other.

Where a figure is not available yet, the page says Not calculated or Not recorded instead of showing a zero. Zero and not recorded mean different things.

When there is a difference

A difference usually means a statement line without a matching transaction, or the reverse. Check that every page of the statement was uploaded, then look at the unmatched lines. If you cannot explain one, send a message on the account so the team can look at it.
