Fix an upload that failed

The usual reasons a file will not upload, and what to try.

Uploads fail for a handful of predictable reasons.

  • The format is not supported for that upload. Statements take PDF, CSV, XLSX, XLS, OFX, and QFX files. Payroll reports take PDF, CSV, XLSX, or XLS files and must be 25 MB or smaller.
  • A required field is empty. Statements need an account name, and receipts need a vendor and an amount.
  • No file was chosen. The form asks you to choose a file first.
  • A company is not selected. If the page asks for one, choose it before uploading.

Try this

  1. Reload the page and upload again.
  2. Try another browser or a private window.
  3. If it still fails, open a support case under Document upload issue and include the file type, the size, and what the page said.
